Sononline B Fetal Doppler Review

Sonoline B Fetal Doppler Review

Hearing your baby’s heartbeat for the first time is absolutely one of the most memorable moments of your mom life. It’s one of those things that gives moms-to-be a piece of mind during pregnancy, at least it does for me! Thanks to technology, we pregnant moms no longer have to wait until our prenatal visits to listen to those sweet, reassuring pitter patters.

Not sure what a fetal doppler even is? A fetal doppler is a simple, easy-to-use ultrasonic device that allows expectant mothers and health care professionals to retrieve and listen to the fetal heart rate (FHR)

After some research, my doppler of choice was the Sonoline B. I purchased this doppler halfway through my first trimester to keep tabs on my little nugget and I still use it today (30 weeks pregnant as of this article). My main goal when searching for a doppler online was to get one that was as close to doctors grade as possible without putting a dent in my wallet.

This review will be short and sweet because this doppler has one job and it does it well, so let’s take a look at the specs:

  • 3 MHz probe

  • Built-in speaker for listening to the heartbeat without headphones

  • Easy to read LCD with on/off backlight

  • Digital fetal heart rate display

  • Auto-off feature & low battery consumption

  • Battery icon

  • Headphone jack

  • Compact design

  • Weighs only 180g

  • Takes two AA batteries (which should be included in your purchase)

My specific fetal doppler came with the following:

  • Sonoline B Fetal Doppler Unit

  • Fetal Doppler Probe (3.0MHz)
  • Two AA Alkaline Batteries
  • Sonoline B Owners Manual
  • Free Gel Tube

This doppler has three modes:

  • Mode 1: A heart icon is displayed when the heartbeat is detected and the real-time heart rate is displayed numerically

  • Mode 2: A heart icon is displayed when the heartbeat is detected and it averages the heart rate for a more stable reading

  • Mode 3: Allows the user to calculate an average heart rate over a specific period of time by manually pushing a button to start & stop the time

Now on to my opinion you’ve all been waiting for…

I am able to find my baby’s heartbeat on my own just as fast as my wonderful midwife and that makes mama very happy. I can see what baby’s heart rate is on the screen, it is very easy to use, and it came with batteries and a free tube of gel which also makes mama happy.

I don’t personally put the three different modes to use, I just take the number that pops up on the screen for what it is as I’m hearing my baby’s heartbeat. I have been able to find baby’s heartbeat every time even while he was still a little bean with no problem and it’s always been loud and clear. Overall, this is a great brand to choose if you are looking to invest in your own doppler.
